Peter of Verona, Saint Giorgeto and the Thetonicis chevaliers

Dear Friends
being opened and observing many tourist entering, I entered me too in the Dominican church of  Saint Peter Martyr of Verona and Saint Giorgeto (Saint George Minor) in Verona for a healty dive in the Middle Age. As Desirée explained me, it was the chapel of the Brandenburg chevaliers, mercenaries of Cangrande della Scala , lord of Verona. They lived in the Eagles Palace adjacent to the church. Devoted to saint George they decorated the chapel with  frescoes representing their presence at the Nativity and Crucifixion and their insigns. They were not a branch of the Teutonic Order , i.e those defeated by Alexander Newsky at the Battle on the Ice on the  Lake Peipus . They were Tyrolian chevaliers of Ludwig von Wittelsbach, earl of the Tyrol also having the title of Marquis of Brandenburg. The celebrated Chevaliers' inscription in the church is of the 24 April 1354 reads:
ISTI SUNT FUNDATORES D ISTA MISA QUE DEBET ESE SEM
PER OMNI DIE ORA TERCIA IN ONORE SA GEORI ET PER OM
NIB’ THETONICIS FIVIS ET MORTIS ET EST CONSECRATA
IN FESTO SCI GEORI ANO DOMINI MCCCLIIII XXIIII APRILIS
and establish a perpetual daily mass to be celebrated in the chapel in the honor of the Thetonicis chevaliers living and dead. Unwelcomed to the successors of Cangrande the frescoes were etched and covered by a layer of plaster. Being not sated of antiquities, I decided for a lunch at the nice Middle Age Locandina Cappello .
Salutations
Giancarlo
